Animal-safe, fade-resistant artificial coral materials
Materials & craft
Every material is hand-selected for durability, safety and its ability to hold extraordinary detail. Animal safety is non-negotiable.
Fiberglass composites
Lightweight, rigid, and durable. Fiberglass allows us to produce large structural pieces that maintain fine surface detail while withstanding continuous submersion and animal contact.
High-density foam carving
The foundation of our sculptural coral work. HD foam is carved by hand and machine to achieve extraordinary organic detail — every branch, polyp, and ridge that casting alone cannot replicate.
Concrete & casting
Used for large-scale rockscapes that must support animal weight. Our proprietary mixes are formulated for pH neutrality and longevity in both wet and dry settings.
Marine-grade epoxy & resins
Our topcoat of choice for aquarium applications. Marine-grade epoxy creates an impermeable, chemically inert surface safe for fish and invertebrates and will not leach into the water column.
UV-stable pigments
Color is never painted on at Manwarren — it is built into the material itself. UV-stabilized pigments integral to the substrate ensure they will not fade, chip, or peel regardless of lighting conditions.
Structural armatures
All large-format pieces are built over engineered steel or aluminum armatures ensuring dimensional stability over decades of use, even in pieces subject to animal weight or water flow.
Animal safety first
Every material in our catalog has been tested and verified as non-toxic, non-leaching, and safe for the animals that will inhabit the environments we build. As a 30+ year AZA member, we hold ourselves to the highest institutional standards.
Color that never quits
Our proprietary pigmentation process embeds color throughout the substrate — not on top of it. The color you see on installation day is the color you'll see in twenty years. No fading, no chipping, no repainting.
Handcrafted in California
Every piece is fabricated at our Montclair, California studio. We do not outsource production. This allows us to maintain direct quality control at every stage and deliver a level of craft that factory production cannot match.
Built for longevity
Our oldest installations are over 30 years old and still in active use. We build with the expectation that our work will outlast the environments around it — using materials and methods selected for decades of performance.
